History
ZETA ESPACIAL S.A. was founded in 1979 in a small industrial plant in Sant Boi (Barcelona) to manufacture popping candy under the brand PETA ZETAS®.

Success was so immediate and extraordinary that in the Spanish market alone, 24 million pieces were sold in just 2 months, thus becoming a social craze and the sweet symbol of the 70´s generation. |
ZETA ESPACIAL S.A. has always maintained an expansion strategy that soon found its reward. In 1980 PETA ZETAS® was already sold in Spain and 7 more markets. Just two years after that, ZETA ESPACIAL S.A. was awarded the Spain Export Gold Medal, and in 1984, PETA ZETAS® was successfully commercialized in 26 countries. Nowadays our popping candy is available in more than 60 countries all over the world.
In 1994 the company moved to a brand new state of the art production facility located in Rubi, a town near Barcelona. A modern plant with over 10,000 Square metres with the latest manufacturing technology that operates in accordance with the GMP of the U.S. Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the strictest EEC technical and sanitary regulatory requirements as well.
The fundamental commitments or core values of our company are quality, innovation and market orientation, with continuous investments in technology and human resources to guarantee the highest quality products for our consumers.
1997 was also a key year in our history: TWO TO ONE®, the first candy+surprise was launched to the market.
Later on, in 2002, following its expansion strategy, ZETA ESPACIAL S.A. incorporated its affiliates in two key markets, the US and Mexico.

POP ROCKS Inc (Atlanta, US) distributes in the US a complete range of popping candy items under the national brand POP ROCKS®, the original brand for popping candy and a fast selling classic among top quality confectionery items. The administrative office is based in Atlanta (GA) and the distribution center is located in the east coast.

ZETA ESPACIAL INDUSTRIAL S.A. DE C.V. is located in Toluca (State of Mexico), with a 5000 m2 production and packaging plant that sources a complete range of candies for all the American markets. |
In 2012 Zeta Espacial is awarded the “Chamber of Commerce Internationalization Award 2012” as a recognition to the development of the export business and expansion at an international level.
Also in 2012 the company celebrates the 10th anniversary (2002 – 2012) of its two American subsidiaries, one in Toluca (Mexico) and the other in Atlanta (USA), that have been key to consolidate the presence of the company in international markets.
This Award is also a special recognition to Mr. Ramon Escolà, President and Founder of the Company as well as inventor of popping candy. His leadership and his hard work continually inspires an environment of corporate responsibility and commitment of continued growth beyond geographical borders.
In 2013 Zeta Espacial S.A. has been awarded the “Flavour of the Year 2013 Prize” in the category of Food Service Ingredient in Spain as recognition to Peta Zetas Popping Candy being an innovative ingredient ideal for food industry and food service.
